TLDR MTG Commander deckbuilding goes smoother when you pick a plan first, then choose ramp, draw, and interaction that serve that plan

If you dont, or you get unlucky and choose someone elses creature, then you get to lay a free attack into your opponent of choice before (presumably) sacrificing the survivor anyway
